Replace a Supplemental Plan

Overview

This article provides steps for replacing an existing supplemental plan.

Replacing a Supplemental Plan

Getting Here: Click Accounts > search for an account > Plans & Services > Supplemental Plans tab

  1. Click Replace next to the supplemental plan that you wish to replace.

  1. Click Replace next to the new supplemental plan that you want to assign to the customer.

  1. In the Num. Plan Units field, enter the number of units of the plan that the customer is purchasing.
  2. Choose the Assignment Scope:
  • Assign on Anniversary
  • Assign Immediately
  • Assign in Future

Assign on Anniversary

The new plan will be assigned on the customer's next anniversary day. You can enter an Offset Interval to specify the additional number of billing intervals after the anniversary day on which you want the plan change to go into effect.

Example
You have a customer who is subscribed to an annual supplemental plan and has an anniversary day on the 15th of the month (1/15/15, 2/15/15, 3/15/15, etc.), then on 2/1/15, you switch the customer to a quarterly supplemental plan costing $90 a quarter. That customer will continue to be billed for the current plan until 2/14/15. The new plan will be assigned to the customer on 2/15/15.

Assign Immediately

The new plan will be assigned immediately and you can specify how you want to perform proration. Proration will determine any charges or credits that should apply to the period between the plan assignment date and the customer's next anniversary day. The following proration riles are available:

  • No Pro-ration: The customer will not be charged or credited regardless of the result of the proration.
  • All Pro-ration: The customer will be charged or credited depending on the result of the proration.
  • Charge Pro-ration only: If the proration results in a charge, the customer will be charged. If the proration results in a credit, the customer will not be credited.
  • Credit Pro-ration only: If the proration results in a credit, the customer will be credited. If the proration results in a charge, the customer will not be charged.

Assign in Future

The new plan will be assigned on your specified future date. You can click the calendar icon next to Effective Date to choose the date on which you want the plan assignment to go into effect. If you do not currently know the date on which the plan change should go into effect, you can leave Effective Date blank. When you know the date on which the plan change should go into effect, you can go to the Future Plan Changes screen and select the desired date or complete the plan change effective immediately.

  1. In the Offset Option field, specify whether you want to offset the proration period.
  2. Select Rate Schedules to select an existing rate schedule to assign to the plan. Select Custom Rates to enter a special rate schedule for the customer.

  1. Click Save Changes. The customer will be assigned the new plan immediately or on the next anniversary day, depending on your selection.
