Define Plan Relationships

Overview

Assigning plan relationships creates a link between a parent (master) plan and child (supplemental) plans. 

A master plan can be:

  • The parent of one or multiple supplemental (child) plans.
  • A standalone plan that does not contain any supplemental plans.

A supplemental plan can be:

  • The child of a master plan.
  • The child of another supplemental plan.
  • The parent of another supplemental plan.

Assigning Plan Relationships

Getting Here: Click Products > Plans > Plan Relationships

Note: The Plan Relationships tab is only available to select for existing plans. Otherwise, if you are creating a new plan, the Plan Relationships tab becomes available once you have completed the Details tab.

If you are creating a master plan:

  1. Assign Child Plans to your plan by entering a Plan Number, Name or Client-Defined Identifier into the open field, or by clicking Browse. 

If you click Browse, the a selection screen displays.

Check the plans to add, and click Select.

  1. Assign Plan Groups as described above. A plan group limits the selection of master plans that a customer can switch to based on that customer's current master plan. Refer to Create Plan Group for more information.
  2. Click Next: Billing and Invoicing.

If you are creating a supplemental plan:

  1. Assign Parent Plans to your plan by entering a Plan Number, Name or Client-Defined Identifier into the open field, or by clicking Browse. If you click Browse, the a selection screen displays.

Check the plans to add, and click Select.

  1. Assign Child Plans as described above. 
  2. Assign Plan Exclusions as described above. Plan Exclusions prevent customers from subscribing to more than one supplemental plan in the same plan group at the same time. Refer to Plan Exclusions for more information.
  3. Click Next: Billing and Invoicing.
