Overview
You can set an account to automatically cancel at its next anniversary date by changing its account status to "Cancellation Pending."
Setting an Account to Automatically Cancel
An account can be set to cancel automatically, such as upon an account's renewal, by changing the account status to "Cancellation Pending" either via the UI or API. When an account's status is changed to "Cancellation Pending," the account will be canceled on the next anniversary date.
Prerequisite
When changing an account status to "Cancellation Pending," you should first consider configuring the behavior for generating a final invoice to best suit your specific use case. You can do so by navigating to Configuration > Billing > Invoice Settings, selecting the Generate Final Invoice on Pending Cancellation or Pending Termination Status client parameter and adjusting the Value field.
If set to True, when a plan or an account is placed in a "Cancellation Pending" status, its final invoice will be generated during the next batch invoicing run. If set to False, the final invoice will be generated on its next scheduled billing date.
Set an Account to Automatically Cancel Using the UI
An account can be set to be canceled on its anniversary date by setting the account status to "Cancellation Pending" and letting the system automatically cancel the account at that time. Please refer to Change an Account's Status for further instruction.
Set an Account to Automatically Cancel Using APIs
You can also set an account to be canceled on its anniversary date by setting the account status to "Cancellation Pending" via the update_acct_status or update_acct_complete APIs.
