Once you have set up usage defaults (option 1), assigned the plan to an account, and set manual usage thresholds (option 2), you should now set your account and event notifications by following the steps below.

Setting Account Notifications
Getting Here: Click Configuration > Notifications > Events > Account Notifications
- Select the checkbox next to the following events to enable each:
- Account Message Type "MTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Requires Sending
- Message Type "MTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Sent to Account Holder
- Account Message Type "PTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Requires Sending
- Message Type "PTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Sent to Account Holder
- Click Save.
Setting Event Notifications
Getting Here: Click Configuration > Notifications > Events > Usage Monitoring
- Select the checkbox next to the following events to enable each:
- Account's unbilled unit usage value is now OVER OR EQUAL TO the client-defined MTD threshold value.
The Account's month-to-date unbilled unit usage was previously UNDER the client-defined threshold amount for system notification, but is now OVER OR EQUAL TO that threshold.
- Account's unbilled unit usage value is now OVER OR EQUAL TO the client-defined PTD threshold value.
The Account's master billing-period-to-date unbilled unit usage was previously UNDER the client-defined threshold amount for system notification, but is now OVER OR EQUAL TO that amount.
- Click Save.
The following events fire each time a threshold level is crossed for the usage type:
Account Notice MTD Threshold:
- Account Message Type "MTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Requires Sending
- Message Type "MTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Sent to Account Holder
Account Notice PTD Threshold:
- Account Message Type "PTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Requires Sending
- Message Type "PTD Unit Usage Threshold Over" Sent to Account Holder
Client Notice MTD Threshold:
- Account's unit usage value is now OVER OR EQUAL TO the client-defined MTD threshold value.
Client Notice PTD Threshold:
- Account's unit usage value is now OVER OR EQUAL TO the client-defined PTD threshold value.
You can also retrieve an account's usage history to see how many units of usage an account has accumulated at any time, the unit rate, and, if thresholds were exceeded, the total charge for those exceeded units. Below is an example of a notification an account holder would receive, informing him or her of reaching or exceeding the set thresholds.
